Introductory Mosaic Workshop

Nina wanted to learn some of the basics of mosaics so we developed our own workshop. She loves the idea of combining different materials to come up with something unique so this is what we decided to do.  In the process we learned mosaic basics like what makes a good substrate, doing a scratch coat, using different adhesives, applying thinset, cutting ceramics and glass smalti, considering value (lights & darks) in a design, and setting tesserae. I think you will agree, it was a great start.
